There are two terms that spark more fear than anything else in Southerners in the winter:
1. inclement weather
2. wintry mix
When Southerners hear "inclement weather" they immediatly begin planning for school closings, work closings or delays and a pretty bad case scenario.
However, when they hear "wintry mix" they rush to the store and buy double of milk, eggs, and bread. it's like Y2K or hurricane or something. They're crazy!
They delayed school today for 2 hours (one whole county cancelled school) because of "wintry mix" - rain and a little sleet/slush.
It's just a bit much... they're funny folks...
Of course, all of the Mid-Westerners and Northerners LOVE it! We're all, "Woo HOO!!! Free day!!!"
